Posture 1 Yù Bèi Shì

Yù Bèi (Fig. 8 -1) Stand with the body erect and centered, eyes level, lips lightly closed, teeth lightly touching. (Facing South)

Instruction 2 (Fig. 8 -2) The body slowly sinks.

Instruction 3 (Fig. 8 -3) Raise the left heel.

Instruction 4 (Fig. 8 -4) Open the left foot horizontally to shoulder width.

Instruction 5 (Fig. 8 -5) Lower the left foot. The center of gravity shifts to between the legs. Qì sinks to the dān tián.

Note: The body must be erect and not leaning, the topmost energy leads in beginning, the lips are lightly closed, the teeth lightly touching, the jaw is brought in, relax the shoulders, contain the chest, release the waist, bend the knees, relax the hips, letting the qì descend.

Posture 2 Jīn Gāng Dǎo Duì

Instruction 1 (Fig. 8-6) The hands are slowly raised to shoulder height and width.

Instruction 2 (Fig. 8-7) The hands follow the body sinking, dropping down to in front of the abdomen.

Instruction 3 (Fig. 8-8, 9, 10) The hands follow the body turning slightly left toward the upper left, arcing to shoulder level, the center of gravity tending to the right leg.
