Posture 1 - Yù Bèi Shì

In preparation (Fig 5-1), stand erect and centered, eyes level, lips lightly closed, teeth lightly together. (Facing South)

Instruction 1 (Fig 5-2) The body sinks slowly.

Instruction 2 (Fig 5-3) The left heel is raised.

Instruction 3 (Fig 5-4) The left foot opens horizontally to the left at shoulders' width.

Instruction 4 (Fig 5-5) The left foot is placed firmly, the center of gravity is between the legs.

Note: The whole body is relaxed, breathing is normal.

Posture 2 - Jīn Gāng Chū Miào

Instruction 1 (Fig 5-6) Both hands are slowly raised, to shoulder height and width.

Instruction 2 (Fig 5-7) Following the body, the hands drop to in front of the abdomen.

Instruction 3 (Fig 5-8,9) Following the body, the hands turn toward the upper left, moving to level with the shoulders (left hand rotated out, right hand rotated in). The center of gravity tends to the right leg.

Instruction 4 (Fig 5-10,11,12) The body turns slightly left, then turns right. The hands, left hand rotating in, right hand rotating out, move to the right side of the body at shoulder height. The center of gravity tends to the left leg.
