Instruction 2 (Fig 7-514) The body squats, the left foot steps out to the left side, the right hand arcs forward to the inside of the left calf, the right hand arcs out to right oblique front.

Note: In this posture, the body descends and the legs open and come down, forming the splits (die cha). The splits can be done by stretching the left leg out from the right knee such that the whole touches the ground, or it could be done by opening both legs to form a double split. For now, you can base your choice on your conditioning. At first, practice a bit higher; when you are more practiced, you can gradually go lower, to avoid pulling leg muscles.

Posture 55 - Jīn Jī Dú Lì

Instruction 1 (Fig 7-515,516) The body turns left, the center shifts to the left leg, becoming a bow step. Simultaneously, the left hand moves forward passing of the left knee, the right hand arcs down to the right side of the body.

Instruction 2 (Fig 7-517) The right foot is raised and descends to the inside of the left foot, toes touching down. The right hand moves forward to in front of the abdomen.

Instruction 3 (Fig 7-518,519,520) Raise the right leg, toes hanging naturally. The right hand passes by the inside of the left arm and pushes up. Simultaneously, the left hand presses down to the outside of the left leg.
