Instruction 4 (Fig 7-182,183) Moving from the rear upward, the left hand is brought to above the left shoulder the palm facing the left front. The right rotates inward and is brought in a little.

Instruction 5 (Fig 7-184,185) Lift the right foot and take a big step to the rear touching down with the toes. The left hand is brought in to beside the ear.

Instruction 6 (Fig 7-186,187) The center of gravity moves right. Simultaneously, the right hand arcs toward the lower rear to outside the right hip and the left hand pushes out toward the left front at shoulder height.

Instruction 7 (Fig 7-188,189) The left hand rotates in and is brought in a little. The right hand is brought in from the rear upward to above the right shoulder.

The instruction for the following three step is the same as that for the two steps above. (Fig 7-190 to 205)

Note: When stepping back, the leg is first brought in and then extended, the two hands first close then open, (when the foot is brought in, both hands close energy, when stepping back, both hands become open energy). You must coordinate the upper and lower extremities, sinking the waist energy, empty and full clearly distinguished, turning smoothly in circles; every time you step back, the center of gravity must move to the front leg. When turning the body, as the center of gravity moves to the rear leg, the hands change from nì chán to shùn chán.
