Instruction 4 (Fig 7-40) The center of gravity moves to the right leg, the hands are brought together beside the left ear.

Instruction 5 (Fig 7-41) Bring the left foot beside the right foot, the toes touching the ground. The feet are under the shoulders, the hands push to the upper right a shoulder's width apart. (Facing Southwest)

Note: When turning the hands from stroke (lǚ) to press (àn), the waist is the axis. When turning from left to right, the upper body must remain erect, not bending forward or leaning back. When the hands press to the right, the right palm is principal, the left palm assists. The qi sticks to the back and the crotch is round.

Posture 5 Dān Biān

Instruction 1 (Fig 7-42,43) The body turns slightly right, the hands turn in. The left hand extends a little to the front, the right hand coming together with it slightly inward, both palms facing up.

Instruction 2 (Fig 7-44) The right hand forms a hook moving out to the upper right slightly higher than the shoulder. The left hand is brought to in front of the left abdomen.

Instruction 3 (Fig 7-45) Lift the left foot and step to the left, heel to the ground.
