1. During fā jìn, the right arm is primary, the left arm supplemental.
2. The cross step is basically the same as that in the first set form, only faster, as the left foot touches down the right foot rises, the skilled can change this to a jump.
Posture 35 Zuǒ Èr Gōng Yòu Èr Gōng
Instruction 1 (Fig 8-362) The body turns right about 180°, the center of gravity on the right, with the left foot step forward then quickly move the center of gravity to the left. Simultaneously punch out with the left fist to the front, palm facing down, strike to the rear with the right elbow, palm facing up.
Instruction 2 (Fig 8-363) Following immediately, punch to the front with the right fist (this is Yǎn Shǒu Gōng Quán), palm facing down; strike out with the left elbow, palm facing up. Then immediately strike out with first the left fist then the right, altogether four punches, the center of gravity does not change.

Note:
1. In this posture the left and right one after the other punch twice, therefore there are two left arm [strikes] and two right. In the first punch, step forward with the left punch, following immediately with three punches. Although the center of gravity stays on the left, each punch still takes the waist as the axis, and the crotch energy must be coordinated.
2. With each punch, one must pay attention to each fist and elbow firing out in opposite directions, such that there is forward and rearward, left and right, causing the center of gravity to be stable, the energy arrives smoothly. Only paying attention to fā lì of the fist will likely be counterproductive.
