Instruction 3 (Fig 8-237,238,239) The body continues turning right, the right leg takes a step back, the center of gravity shifts to the right leg. Simultaneously the left leg is brought a half step to the front toes touching the ground. The left fist arcs forward and down and is brought in to in front of the left chest. The right fist arcs back and up and is brought in to in front of the right chest a little highter than the shoulder. (Facing Northwest)

Note: This posture must be coherent. Although one does not fā jìn, one stores and waits to fire (fa), preparing well for the fā jìn of the next move. Although the limbs and body are bent, one must still maintain shen fa neither losing nor diluting all-sided support.
