Instruction 3 (Fig 6-293, 294, 295) The center shifts to the left leg. Simultaneously, the body turns left, the left fist arcs up from below, the right fist arcs down from above coming together in front of the chest.

Instruction 4 (Fig 6-296, 297, 298) The center shifts to the right leg. With the body squatting, the left fist rotates out and extends to the front to the inside of the calf. The right fist opens upward to the upper right. (Facing West)

Note: This is the only large downward extension movement in the 38 Form. If your tendons and body strength are relatively good, you can lay the entire left leg on the ground, but you must work up to it gradually. To avoid injury, do not force the extension. When shifting the center to the right and squatting to the extension, pay attention to relaxing the waist and hips, turning the body, and sinking the qì. The body movement follows the settling and lowering of the qì. You must not stick out the chest or stiffen up when squatting.
